University of Warwick wins in British University Esport Championship fifth time in a row

The University of Warwick has once again emerged as the number one university in BUEC (British University Esport Championship). The university outranked all 110 other competitors by placing first in BUEC's tables, for the fifth successive year.

Issra Khan, the current president of Warwick Esports commented: “We as a society are very proud of all our achievements and this is no different. I am so happy and so thrilled that we have retained our status for the fifth year in a row. There’s also a massive sense of relief, as no-one wants to be the first year that we break the streak, and I hope that next year is no different. I look forward to cementing our legacy and making the streak six.”

Each university can earn points and climb the table by competing in tournaments run by NSE (National Student Esports). Every team that competes in each tournament, across all affiliated esports, will contribute to the overall championship, so every team matters. The championship was inspired by BUCS (British University and College’s Sports), and helps shine a spotlight on esports universities and the many societies that go alongside them.

Kat Emery, president of Warwick Esports throughout 2022/2023 said: “I am so proud of the entire Warwick Esports community for their hard work throughout this year to secure our 5th consecutive victory. Every single team, player and staff member in Warwick Esports should be filled with pride today  - I am sure this win will give the fresh-faced exec team all the motivation they need to continue on our legacy next year.“

The University of Warwick, amassed 3433 points in the BUEC table, with a considerable 1146 point lead, with the University of Exeter and the University of Durham coming 2nd and 3rd respectively. The full standings and article by NSE can be found here:
