Summer Split 2021 Lineup 30 Jul Written By Harry "Sol4rys" Redman CS:GONUEL on Tuesday evenings from 7NSE on Sunday evenings from 7 Despite the name, ‘Warwick Casual Academy Team B Subs’ is the team most likely to bring success to us in CS:GO this summer. Aiming to finish in the top 16, this team is hoping to put in a strong performance to end the year. Keep an eye on ‘lochy’ as their clutch god, but new addition ‘Cain’ will also be the one to watch here, looking to impress in order to keep his place in future seasons. Watch Miloshki’s Stream Here Warwick International Gameing (no, that’s not a typo…) are the second CS:GO team playing for us this summer. They will be looking to qualify for at least the Second Division after the Swiss. International Gameing are also promising to challenge the first team this Split, hoping for a strong performance during the Swiss that could draw them against the first team with bragging rights on the line. Make Love Not Warwick is the newest roster representing us in CS:GO this coming Split. Initially the team was created as an academy team for GBKL Esports, the previous Warwick third team. However, GBKL are unable to play this Split, and as a result Make Love Not Warwick have picked up ‘Hypericosahedron’ from their roster. The team is primarily composed of players who are returning to Counter-Strike after a long break, or are new migrants having come from other FPS titles such as Rainbow 6: Siege or Valorant. ‘Calgon’ and ‘jkl’ previously played for the Warwick Geese R6S team, whilst ‘LayV’ currently plays for the Warwick Anchors Valorant team. ‘PapaP’ and ‘Hustleer’ however are the ones to watch in this roster, both noted by captain ‘IlhAnimal’ for their great aim and in Patrick’s case, outstanding game-sense. Warwick Massive Gummyworm were formed before the Winter Split in 2020. Named in honour of the large gummy-worms that INVISCID ate during the team’s first practice games, the team has high ambitions this Split, with a top four finish in their sight, although any improvement on their placement of 30th in the Spring Swiss league will be considered a great achievement. They may be more casual than the teams mentioned before, but this roster is as equally passionate and hungry for victory. Look out for ‘badone’ if you ever find yourself watching this team; as the most experienced player on the team with a penchant for clutches, he will be crucial to any success. ‘MECHANISM’s AWP flicks are also a worthy mention. Rounding out the Counter-Strike teams for Warwick, we have the Warwick Wolves. Their aim this season will be to win a game or two. Since the beginning of the academic year the Wolves have only registered two or three wins. However, the lack of victories has made the wins all the more spectacular. Finishing anywhere other than rock bottom would be a welcome but unlikely outcome. ‘M4ge’ and ‘Scrappy’ lead the line for this team as the shot-callers – with ‘Scrappy’s dad jokes being an endless source of morale for the whole team. Maybe they will even win their second ever knife round this Split… Watch SoL’s Stream Here DOTA 2NSE on Sunday evenings from 7 The reigning champions of Dota in University Esports, Warwick Ducks will be hoping to retain their title this season. ‘Overlom’ is the one to watch here, and not just because he’ll be streaming his perspective. Special mention has to go to ‘Kingfish’, the team’s very own Timbersaw Enthusiast.Watch Overlom’s Stream Here Anurajs Angels welcomes ‘kappafiend’ to the roster for the Summer Split, and will hope to challenge at the top end. The team are optimistic that they can build on their 4th place finish in the Winter Split, hoping to take advantage of the potentially less competitive nature of the Summer Split. This is a very strong team; Dota Co-ordinator ‘MooNLight’ is the highest rated player on the team, but ‘kappafiend’s ability to pull out god-like plays may give them the edge. Definitely a team to watch this season.Watch Anuraj’s Stream Here “We are prepared to come last”. Fighting words from Warwick Esport’s third team for Dota this season. Expectations aren’t high after the transfer of ‘kappafiend’ to the second team, leaving tcyong as the highest-rated player on this roster. However, this ‘meme-stack’ are here to have fun. Could cause an upset, but don’t count on it. League of LegendsNUEL on Wednesday evenings from 7NSE on Tuesday evenings from 7 Light Black Warwick are one of two teams that competed in the previous Spring Split. Described as a competitive ‘4fun’ team, they will be hoping to build on their previous success, including winning regionals Division 3 in the Winter Split and regionals Division 2 in the spring. ‘Hpar’ and ‘Skiip’ will share top-lane duties, with one taking NSE and the other NUEL in a bumper-sized roster that includes 13 players. This team is bursting with competitive experience, and will be hoping to break into nationals this season, but would be content with victory in the Regionals once again. As captain of the other pre-established roster, ‘Hoodwink’ continues in his quest to get a Papa John’s sponsorship, with the return of Papa John’s Warwick. This is a very fluid and adaptable roster, with no player adopting a set role, instead opting to take a more dynamic approach. A new team formed solely for the Summer Split, Daddy Warwick is a brand-new roster of very experienced players. ‘RikyD’ and ‘Chonk’ both previously played for Grey Warwick, whilst ‘Akis’ previously played for Academy. Daddy Warwick also sees the return of former Grey Warwick ADC ‘Cokey’, who finishes his third year, having not played for a Warwick team since year one of his studies. This team could go far. Expect them to make nationals or at the very least dominate regionals, with ‘Cokey’ being a former grandmaster. Anyone who’s spent any time on campus this year will know where the inspiration for this name comes from. Tesco Trolley Warwick are a new roster, picking up ‘Simmy09’ from the Academy roster. Although a traditional ADC, ‘Simmy’ will be playing Midlane for Tesco Trolley this Split, whilst ‘Danzooks’ and ‘Daedrium’ share the responsibility as supports in NSE and NUEL respectively. This team don’t have any serious competitive ambitions this Split but will be looking to go as far as they can. OverwatchNUEL on Monday evenings from 7NSE on Thursday evenings from 7 The only team representing Warwick for Overwatch this Split will be the Warwick Angels. Expect to see a few of their games cast on the NSE and NUEL twitch pages over the next month. Watch out for some great plays from ‘Wayway.’ and ‘Paladin’, the former renowned in the Warwick Siege community for his inhuman ability to land impossible shots, and the latter as an insane clutch god. As the second siege team representing Warwick this Split, Warwick Whyverns (yes, we know, its confusing) boasts a star-studded lineup, with three of the most senior exec members of Warwick Esports. Warwick Whyverns is a new team formed for this Split, containing former ‘Warwick Geese’ members who competed in the Winter and Summer Splits. They will be hoping to improve on the very respectable mid-table finishes that the Geese achieved.
